KEY EXPO PARTS

Expo 2026 highlights the theme “Diversity of Life”, with themed areas designed in accordance with the three aforementioned subthemes.

The three main buildings are where the majority of indoor gardens and activities will be hosted. The Isaan Building will showcase the local wisdom of art, culture, and horticultural products, and the Lotus building is inspired by the famed wetland plant of Udon Thani, the red lotus. The Glasshouse will house both Thai and international gardens, along with various expo competitions.

The true spectacle of the expo will be in the outdoor garden areas: the Theme Garden, with flora and fauna artfully arranged to reflect the expo’s theme of diversity, alongside the International Outdoor Garden showcasing plant exhibitions from AIPH members and various countries, plus the vast Thai Tropical Garden, housing famed local fruit orchards, flowers, herbs, vegetables, and myriad members of the plant kingdom.

Isaan Building

Isaan Building This is divided into 3 sections: (1) areas for circulating exhibitions and Thai horticultural product exhibition (OTOP), (2) an area for international art and culture exhibitions, and (3) an administration area for meeting rooms, VIP rooms, PR, the tourist service centre, and the security office.

The Isaan building, which serves as administration, is characterised by Thai Isaan traditional-style architecture. It also serves as a centre of Isaan spirit and activity space which is inspired by Wat Pa Phu Kon temple in Udon Thani, a major symbol of the province. The mixed-use of the temple’s pavilion, called ‘Hor Jaek’ functions as a public gathering space for communal use in activities like ‘Boon Heet 12’ (Isaan traditional festival that occurs in December)

Lotus Building

The lotus building is designed with simplified lines, shapes and forms, resembling the structure of the lotus flower, corresponding to the master design of the Expo.

Inspired by the shape of a lotus flower, the signature plant of Udon Thani, this will serve as the royal exhibition area, along with horticultural technology and innovations and biodiversity exhibitions.

Glass House

An area for indoor Thai and International gardens, and also housing garden competitions.
