Progress Underway: Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026 Moves Forward with 15% Completion — On Track for Scheduled Opening
Mr. Raphiphat Chandrasriwong, Director-General of the Department of Agriculture, announced significant progress in the preparation for the Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026, scheduled to take place from 1 November 2026 to 14 March 2027 at Nong Dae Public Park, Udon Thani Province.
As of July 2025, construction progress has reached 15%, in line with the planned timeline. Key infrastructure works are underway, including site preparation, underground piping, bridges, riverside walkways, electrical and fire safety systems, as well as concrete roads and major buildings such as the Welcome Pavilion, Administration Building, Greenhouse, Exhibition Halls, and public restrooms. Notably, over 80% of foundation work for all major structures has been completed, despite construction challenges during the rainy season.
On 25 July 2025, Mr. Raphiphat led a delegation of senior officials from the Department of Agriculture to inspect the site alongside Mr. Natthaphon Withee, Deputy Governor of Udon Thani Province. The group also held consultations with contractors, engineers, public relations managers, and representatives from the Udon Thani Provincial Administrative Organization, including Mr. Sarawut Phetphanomphon, to ensure seamless coordination across all sectors involved.
Mr. Raphiphat emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to construction contracts and legal standards, especially where project adjustments are needed to ensure readiness by the official launch date. He underscored the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives’ commitment to maximizing efficiency, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and delivering direct benefits to local communities and farmers.
The Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026 will serve as a global platform to showcase Thailand’s excellence in horticulture, floriculture, and agricultural innovation. The event is also expected to boost agri-tourism, promote green economy policies, and strengthen international cooperation on agriculture and the environment.
“The Expo is not just a world-class exhibition—it’s a strategic opportunity to elevate Thailand’s agricultural sector, expand market access, and drive sustainable rural development,” said Mr. Raphiphat.
