Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026 Strengthens Collaboration with the Tourism and Service Sectors in Preparation for the Global Stage
On 7 May 2026, Mr. Rapeepat Chantharasriwong, Director-General of the Department of Agriculture, together with Mrs. Sasiya Pantan, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Agriculture, attended a press conference on the integration of cooperation in the tourism and services sectors to support the International Horticultural Exposition, Udon Thani 2026, held at The Sukosol Hotel, Bangkok, with the participation of government agencies and private-sector organizations.
On this occasion, Ms. Kanchana Thongna, Director of the Office for the International Horticultural Exposition, joined the press conference in her capacity as head of the principal academic and technical body under the Department of Agriculture, which is responsible for plant selection, exhibition arrangement, and the transfer of horticultural knowledge, in preparation for staging the event in accordance with the standards of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH).
The Office for the International Horticultural Exposition has carried out work on landscape design; the preparation of ornamental flowers, vegetables, and medicinal plants; as well as the exhibition of smart farming innovation and technology, in order to showcase the potential of Thai horticulture on the international stage, while linking agritourism and the MICE industry to create added economic value and promote sustainable tourism going forward.
At the same time, there was a panel discussion on approaches to integrating work among tourism, MICE, and service agencies, led by private-sector network partners. This included the launch of collaborations with the private sector—spanning airlines, hotels, tour companies, tourism platforms, and various service businesses—which have jointly developed tourism and service packages linked throughout the event period in order to attract visitors, increase revenue, and distribute economic opportunities to local communities in a sustainable manner.
